1964 Bonneville Model 2847 Production 1 of 34,769
We had been looking for a companion for the 1978 for a few years. I had always admired the styling
of the early 1960's B body Pontiacs. At Woodward Dream Cruise in 1999 as we were lining up for the
Berkley Parade on 12 mile we spotted the 1964 that was to become ours. The owner was lined up a
few cars back from us with a For Sale sign that beckoned us to take a closer look. Anyway we
struck a deal, brought the trailer back the next week, and has been with us since.
This car was built on March 9, 1964 delivered to Huntley Pontiac Buick in Wadesboro, NC. Somehow
it made it's way to Michigan and underwent a frame off in the early 90's. From the Cameo white
factory color it was changed to Marimba Red during this restoration. It did retain all of the
factory options as well as the original 389 four BBL automatic drive train. This is a full
optioned car as the PHS records indicate. The bucket seat interior is black Morrokide with
the floor shift console, and the gauge package including the vacuum and tachometer. It even
has the Verbra Phonic rear speaker system. The eight lug wheels compliment the exterior color
as well as the massive chrome bumpers. Currently it has 92,000 miles, which I tend to think is
correct based on the condition of various parts.
1968 LeMans Sport Model 23737 Production 1 of 110,036
We had been thinking about adding an A body Pontiac to our garage for a couple of years. We found
this one with the help of a friend in the business. Turns out it had been in West Michigan for
the past 17 years. The owner had made several modifications, drove it a while and put it in
storage for a number of years. So we made the offer, agreed on a price, and brought her home
on June 23, 2006.
This car was produced December 22, 1967, and delivered to an unknown dealer in Georgia. It also
found it's way back to Michigan in 1969. From March 18, 1969 through May 28, 1989 it was a daily
driver. I have the notebooks from the glove box that indicate every tank of gas, and all the
maintenance that was performed during that time. In 1989 the owner decided to make a few
modifications.
The factory color was Verdoro Green with a black Cordova top. The top was replaced and the color
changed to a GM Flame Red poly. The bumpers were rechromed. The interior was refreshed; most of
the original parts remain.
The original 350 motor was removed and replaced with a 1973 code YF 400, bored .030 over with a
pretty aggressive cam and a turbo 350 trans with a shift kit, set of Hooker headers, with a
Flowmaster exhaust system, and to complete the period look a set of Cragars. We also have
updated the sound system.
1978 Bonneville Brougham Model Q37 Production I of 17,948
We ordered this car through Somerset Pontiac in Troy, March 1978. It was built on March 31st.
Since that date it has accumulated less than 46,000 miles with only two drivers, Jen and me.
We added just about every option available that year. It even has an AM/FM/CB power antennae.
The exterior is Nautilus Blue, with the deep velour Glacier Blue interior. We also chose the 400
engine to power us down the road. This car is a true survivor. It has only seen one Michigan
winter, and still retains most of her original parts, only the normal repair items have been
replaced. It runs the same as the day it was delivered.
